PSW Support and Nursing Care

Caring for a loved one can sometimes be overwhelming and exhausting. There are many things to consider and tasks to be done. How exactly do you wash someone when they can’t get up? What is the best way to toilet your loved one? How do you safely feed someone? We can answer all these questions.

Let us help...

Whether you need our experienced and compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide care for your loved one or you would like one of our nurses to show you how to provide safe and competent care, our staff of highly qualified caregivers and nurses are just the ones to help.

Personal Support Workers

Our PSWs are experienced caring for individuals with various health diagnoses. This includes dementia, palliative and physical disabilities. They do so with the utmost care and professionalism. In certain situations, and with special training, our PSWs may also administer medications.

Along with these specialized skills, our PSWs can help you with Activities of Daily Living. These can include:

  • Feeding
  • Bathing or showering
  • Grooming
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Transfers
  • Toileting

We can also perform light housework, which includes laundry, vacuuming/sweeping, mopping, dusting and washing dishes. If you require support with meals, we are happy to help with light meal preparation such as heating up a precooked meal or making sandwiches. Our staff are happy to sit with your loved one while they enjoy their meal to ensure they are swallowing safely.

Companionship is also an important part of the care we provide. We have found many of our clients have benefited from having someone to speak to. A familiar face and a kind word can make all the difference for your loved one.

Let us make that difference.

Nursing

Our nurses have the special skills needed to support the clinical and psychological aspects of patients with palliative diagnoses, as well as experience with chronic and acute diseases. Our nurses are also supported by our physician, which means your loved one will receive optimum care.

The nurses from Stepping Stones can help ease the burden on your family. You can rely on our nurses to provide:

  • Symptom management support which includes administering medications in the home
  • Performing treatments such as wound care and IV therapy
  • Providing health teaching to patients and families to ensure everyone understands the treatments and care plan that has been chosen
  • Completing regular assessments to ensure optimal comfort
  • Teaching loved ones how to properly reposition, perform mouth care and feed an ill family member

Let the Stepping Stones team guide you through all aspects of your care with our knowledge, experience and compassion.
